While betavoltaics may be sufficient for civilian use, the more advanced technology of the High Houses is energy-hungry enough to require more powerful generators. Rather than focusing on extracting as much power from as little space as possible, the High Houses have designed these stellarator fusion reactors for efficiency and portability; they produce little heat and few waste byproducts. In addition, they are designed to channel power more efficiently to a ship's defensive systems, manifested as a reduction in the power draw of the associated outfits.
